Provider and Rater Organizations - How They Work

Modified on Tue, 24 Sep at 9:22 AM

In Ekotrope, every user is part of an Organization.  You can see your organization in the top header bar, next to "Settings".  There are two types of Organizations: Provider Organizations and Rater Organizations.

Rater Organizations:

Rater Organizations have access to most features and capabilities in Ekotrope, but some actions depend on actions of the Provider Organization that they are linked to.  Every Rater Organization should be linked to a Provider Organization.

  • Projects, building designs, and library entries created or imported by users in a Rater Organization will be visible to everyone in that organization.  They will not be visible to the linked Provider organization unless the project is "Shared with Provider" or "Submitted for QA".

  • In order to download or email reports for any project, a Rater must click "Share with Provider" on the Project Dashboard for that project.  This will allow the Provider to view and edit the shared project, but will not require any action from the Provider.  Immediately after the project has been shared, report downloading and emailing will be enabled for projected reports.

  • In order to download certain confirmed reports, the project must be registered with RESNET.  If your Provider has given you permission, you may be able to upload your project directly to the RESNET registry to enable access to confirmed reports instantly.  Otherwise, you will need to click "Submit for QA" on the Project Dashboard.  This will send them an email indicating that the project is ready to be reviewed and uploaded to the registry.

Provider Organizations:

  • Provider Organizations have access to all Ekotrope capabilities, and may or may not have linked Rater accounts associated with them.  If you would like to add or change linked Rater Organizations, please email Ekotrope support.

  • Any projects created by a Provider Organization user will be visible only to other users in the Provider organization, but NOT to users in linked Rater organizations.  In order for external Raters to have access, the project must be created by a user in the Rater Organization.  Then it can be shared with the Provider Organization to give the Provider access.  This includes projects created from REM/Rate imports.  If you would like to have a username in one of your linked Rater accounts, please email Ekotrope support and CC your Rater client so that we can get their permission.

  • When projects are "Shared with Provider" from your linked Rater Organizations, you will have access to those projects.  The shared project is not a copy, so any edits you make will also be reflected in the Rater's project.  Typically, when a project is "Shared with Provider", there is no immediate action necessary from the Provider.

  • When projects are "Submitted for QA" by the Rater Organization, this typically means the projects are ready for review and upload to the RESNET registry.  Provider users will receive an email notification for every project that is "Submitted for QA". That notification will go to the email(s) that have been specified with Ekotrope Support or, if it hasn't been specified, it will go to all active users in the org.

  • You can access a log of projects and important submission dates for accounting purposes by clicking "Batch Actions" --> "Project Details CSV" from the Project List page.

Registering with RESNET:

  • All Provider organizations can register projects with RESNET if they have valid RESNET Provider credentials.  Credentials can be changed by clicking the Organization name in the top header, next to "Settings".

  • Rater organizations can register projects with RESNET if their Provider has enabled this capability.  For Providers, this setting is in the Organization Settings page, accessible by clicking the Organization name in the top header.

  • Once projects have been registered, the Official Rater for the project will get a confirmation email, the Project Status will change to "Registered with RESNET", and all confirmed reports will be available for download.

  • If the project, building designs, or any library types used in those building designs are modified after registration, the project will have to be re-registered with RESNET to re-enable certain confirmed reports.
