Using Ekotrope Upgrade Advisor

*Note: these instructions also pertain to the MassSave Renovations and Additions program.

Ekotrope can offer a number of suggestions on what can be changed to reduce energy bills and increase the incentive amount. For this feature to be available to you, your company must participate in an Upgrade Advisor applicable program.

To use the Upgrade Advisor for a retrofit or addition, the Ekotrope project must contain two building designs with the exact names Existing and Final which correspond to the building design conditions before and after the retrofit or addition. See the photo below for an example of how the project should be laid out. To change the name of the Building Design, open the project and edit the Name field under the General tab. To copy a building design, you can use the Copy Building Design button on the lower left corner of the Building Designs page, highlighted in the screenshot.

To view the upgrades for a project, edit the Final building design and click the tab labeled "Upgrade" in the top-right of the quick results panel. Once loaded, there will be a list of potential design modifications that Ekotrope has analyzed, sorted by how much additional incentive making that change will provide. Be sure to make the Final building design the Master Design via the blue ribbon prior to submitting the project.
