To calculate the required mechanical ventilation CFM (R403.6) for Massachusetts Stretch Code, we are using option 1. According to RESNET/ICC Standard 301-2019 Table 4.2.2(1) footnote g, we use the following equation for the calculation of required mechanical ventilation CFM:
It is worth mentioning that this calculation is similar to ASHRAE Standard 62.2 2019 or 2022. But the 2013 (or 2010) version of ASHRAE Standard 62.2 uses a different calculation for infiltration CFM (Qinf), which we currently display under the ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation requirement QA check. It does not account for the effect of the reduction factor (Aext).
