RESNET Index Adjustment Factor (IAF)

Modified on Mon, 12 Feb, 2018 at 6:35 PM

On February 1, 2018, RESNET approved the standard amendment that incorporates a house size Index Adjustment Factor (IAF) - (BSR/RESNET/ICC 301-2014 Addendum E-201x, draft PDS-05).

The purpose of the amendment is to incorporate adjustments for dwelling size in Energy Rating Index calculations. Current Energy Rating Index standard calculations result in a discrepancy in the rating index for large versus small dwellings similarly equipped and configured for energy efficiency. Larger dwellings have lower rating index numbers than smaller dwellings. The purpose of the amendment is to establish a calculation methodology that compensates for size in order that similarly configured and equipped dwellings of different sizes will have equivalent ratings.

RESNET has given software providers until June 1, 2018 to implement the IAF.  The IAF will be active in Ekotrope by early May at the latest, well before the June 1 deadline.  The update will be released as a new Ekotrope version, so it will not affect existing ratings.  If you have any questions about this, please contact us a support@ekotrope.com.
