How to Turn On Instant QA Selection in QA Track

Instant QA Selection is a QA Track feature that allows Quality Assurance Designees (QADs) to automatically select energy models for File QA in real time, at the moment of RESNET registration. When a model is selected, Ekotrope holds it from registering until the QAD completes their review and submits the passing file.

This automatic selection maintains RESNET's mandatory 10% File QA requirement without manual tracking or spreadsheets.

This article covers how to enable the feature for your organization and manage it for individual users. 

Before you start

Instant QA Selection depends on raters being permitted to register files directly. Because Ekotrope intercepts a project at the moment of registration, this feature only applies to projects being submitted directly to the RESNET Registry.

Step 1: Open Organization Settings

Log in with your Provider Admin credentials. Click your organization's name in the top blue header bar to open Organization Settings.

Step 2: Configure direct RESNET submissions

Ekotrope needs to intercept direct registrations in real time, so direct registry submissions must be enabled. You have two options:

Option A: Enable for all raters. Under Organization Settings, check Allow internal rater submission and/or Allow external rater submission. This allows all raters connected to your providership to submit directly.

Option B: Enable for select raters. If you only want certain raters submitting directly, leave the global settings unchecked. Instead, go to your Users List and assign the Direct RESNET Submitter role to specific users.

Step 3: Confirm your QA period and baseline

Ekotrope tracks eligible project counts and completed QA reviews by calendar year (January 1 to December 31), based on each project's RESNET registration date. If you are starting QA Track mid-year you may want to set your QA Start date to your contract start date. 

Step 4: Enable Instant QA Selection

In Organization Settings, check the Instant QA Selection box and click Save. This turns on selection for your entire providership.

Step 5: Enable Instant Select for specific raters

Once the feature is on for your organization, choose which HERS Raters are subject to real-time selection:

1. Go to the Users List tab in your settings.
2. Click Edit next to the rater's profile.
3. Confirm they have a valid Rater ID (RTIN) on file.
4. Toggle Instant Select to on and click Save.

Raters who are newly certified or transitioning out of a Training role need this toggled on individually before they're included in the selection pool.
