PHOTO REQUIRED or additional documentation required of installed slab perimeter insulation per ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301 APPENDIX B and HERS® Standards Chapter 9. A photo is not required for a Rating that has an uninsulated Slab. If applicable/visible, Rater/RFI verifies and documents the correct slab area, perimeters, depth below grade, floor covering (and R-value), exposures, insulation type, grade and R-values. Slab floors should be separately verified as covered or exposed. Typically, Raters/RFIs are not present when slab insulation is installed before the slab is poured, and are therefore not able to collect photodocumentation. One option is that field verifiers can photodocument a slab insulation inspection of homes on the same builder’s adjacent lots while in the area performing pre-drywall and/or final inspections. As an alternative, the builder can provide slab insulation photos and documentation for the home. The QAD should verify that the documentation provided is sufficient to confirm the quality and accuracy of the installation.
SCORING:
"Satisfactory": When all mandatory photos are provided, and no errors in verification
"Unsatisfactory": When all mandatory photos are provided, and at least one error in verification
"Missing Photo": One or more of the mandatory photos are missing, and no errors in verification
"Unsatisfactory + Missing Photo": One or more of the mandatory photos are missing, and at least one error in verification
"N/A" : No Slab Floors present in the home
GUIDANCE: Slab Verification Errors - The Rater/RFI can correctly identify or determine the following items: * R-Value is within the depth variance for insulation type * Slab surface area, depth, and perimeter are appropriately measured * Floor Covering and Covering R-value, if installed, is appropriately documented * Slab exposure is appropriately documented
