V8 File QA Q36: ClothesDryer

PHOTO REQUIRED of Clothes Dryer nameplate/model number (if installed) or empty space (if not installed) per HERS® Standards Chapter 9. Raters/RFIs are responsible for documenting reasons for missing photos. Confirm that the dryer fuel and location correspond with those identified by the Rater/RFI on site or plans. Confirm if the Clothes Dryer is vented or ventless. Dryers are often not installed at time of final inspection for new homes. If a dryer is installed, confirm that the verified CEF and moisture sensing correspond with those identified by the Rater/RFI on site or plans. If the builder provides this appliance, the Rater/RFI should provide supporting documentation in form of spec sheet/purchase order from the builder. If the builder does not provide a major appliance, the software model should reflect the same input as the reference home (typically the RESNET default value) so not to claim credit on the HERS Index for something not provided at time of rating.

• If dryer is not installed and dryer location is plumbed for both electric and gas, model should reflect the predominant dryer fuel in that market.

GUIDANCE: Clothes Dryer Verification Errors - The Rater/RFI can correctly identify or determine the following items: * If present, location of model number on Clothes Dryer * If present, any characteristics from EnergyGuide that would allow for a non-HERS Reference default to be used in the model * If present, all fields that need to be captured from EnergyGuide for Rating (Dryer CEF, Dryer utilization factor, Ventless Dryer Status) * If present, fuel used for Clothes Dryer * If not present, verify and use the predominant dryer fuel in that market * If not present, Clothes Dryer is modeled as HERS Reference * Location of proposed installation site or installed Clothes Dryer (Conditioned Space or Outside Conditioned Space)
