Water Use for Water Rating Index Help

If you want to enable the water use calculations (HERS H2O® and EPA WaterSense certification), you should first check the check "Water Use For Water Rating Index (HERS H2O)". These tables refer to the inputs once the check is marked. 


Water System


Water Service Pressure

Service pressure of water being supplied to the home, as established by the setting of an

installed pressure-reducing valve or the setting of an installed pressure tank or written documentation from the water supplier that service pressure to the site is lower than or equal to 90 psi or an on-site static pressure test.

Measured Pressure [PSI]

Static water gauge reading in PSI measured at the indoor fixture outlet on the lowest floor closest to the water service entry.

Water Softener Effectiveness [gal/1000 grains]

Related to the water hardness. Enter the value of gallons of water used per 1,000 grains of hardness removed.

Average Shower Head Flow Rate [gal/min]

Average shower head flow rate in gallons per minute. As imprinted on the product, stated by manufacturer in product documentation, or tested via flow rate test in the field.

Average Kitchen Sink Faucet Flow Rate [gal/min]

Average kitchen sink faucet flow rate in gallons per minute. As imprinted on the product, stated by manufacturer in product documentation, or tested via flow rate test in the field.

Water Price [$/ccf]Cost of water in dollars per hundred cubic feet (1 CCF = 748.05 gallons), not including fixed fees.



Toilets

Is Toilet Flush Volume Marked?

Check this box if the toilets have the flush volume stamped on it. 

Number of Single-Flush Toilets

Number of toilets with single-flush system.

Single-Flush Volume [gpf]

Only available if the number of single-flush toilets is greater than 0. Flush volume for each toilet in gallons per flush as measured on-site or from manufacturer’s data.

Number of Double-Flush Toilets

Number of toilets with double-flush system.

Double-Flush Volume [gpf]

Only available if the number of double-flush toilets is greater than 0. Flush volume for each toilet in gallons per flush as measured on-site or from manufacturer’s data.

Number of Non-Water Consuming Toilets

Number of toilets that don't consume water.



Landscape Design


Lot Area [ft²]

Enter the total lot area in ft².

Pad Footprint Area [ft²]

Enter the portion of the lot area in ft² covered by the dwelling unit and any attached or detached garage.

Front Area [ft²]

Enter the area in ft² of the total available area that is located primarily in front of the house.

Front Irrigation Area [ft²]

Enter the area in ft² located primarily in front of the house that receives supplemental water for irrigation at the time of the rating. 

Is Back Area Improved?Check this box if there is any back irrigation area.

Back Irrigation Area [ft²]

Available only if the previous checkbox is marked.  Enter the area in ft² of the total available area that is located primarily behind the house that can be predicted to receive supplemental water for irrigation in the future.

Is Pool or Spa Present?

Indicate presence or absence of a pool or spa.

Is Automatic Irrigation System Installed?

Check this box if the home has an automatic irrigation system.
