Lighting Schemes

Interior/All% Fluorescent
Specify the percentage of qualifying light fixtures that contain fluorescent lamps or light bulbs.
% LED
Specify the percentage of qualifying light fixtures that contain LED lamps or light bulbs or outdoor fixtures that are controlled by photocells or indoor fixtures controlled by motion sensors.

Any fixtures that are not CFL or LED should not be added to the total. It is okay for the overall lighting percentage entered into the model to be less than 100%.

If detailed inputs is not checked, this applies to all fixtures. If it is checked, this only applies to interior fixtures.

Qualifying Light Fixtures – For the purposes of rating, those light fixtures located in kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, family rooms/dens, bathrooms, hallways, stairways, entrances, bedrooms, garage, utility rooms, home offices, and all outdoor fixtures mounted on a building or pole are considered qualifying light fixtures. This excludes plug-in lamps, closets, unfinished basements, and landscape lighting.

If Detailed Inputs are enabled for lighting, the following fields will also be available.

ExteriorSame as above for exterior fixtures.
GarageSame as above for garage fixtures.

Refrigerator

Refrigerator ConsumptionThe total electric consumption per year, in kWh, of all refrigerators and freezers in the home or apartment. If there are multiple units in the home, this value is the sum, not the individual values. This information should be listed on the EnergyGuide label affixed to the refrigerator.

If this information is not available:
Either click the info icon to open a Help dialog with age-based defaults, or use the RESNET defaults. RESNET defaults are based on number of bedrooms, as shown below:
1 BR: 655 kWh / yr
2 BR: 673 kWh / yr
3 BR: 691 kWh / yr
4 BR: 705 kWh / yr
5 BR: 727 kWh / yr
6 BR: 745 kWh / yr
Or, use the Standard equation kWh / yr = 637 + (# of bedrooms * 18)

Dishwasher

Dishwasher EfficiencySelect either EF (Efficiency Factor) or kWh/yr and enter the value on the Energy Guide label. In Ekotrope Version 4.0.0 and beyond.
Dishwasher SizeThe dishwasher size, as determined from the place setting capacity. By RESNET standards, “Standard” dishwashers have 12 place settings, and “Compact” dishwashers have 8 place settings.

For guidance on modeling multifamily washer/dryer units, please see this help article.

Detailed InputsManually specify Washer and Dryer properties. Allows editing of the below properties.
Fuel TypeSpecify whether the washer/dryer is gas or electric.
Dryer CEFDryer Combined Energy Factor. This replaced Dryer Efficiency Factor (EF) in Ekotrope on May 8, 2017. Dryers are now always rated with a CEF. Existing EF values in Ekotrope were converted according to this RESNET Interpretation. If you are rating a dryer with a legacy EF, please convert it using the Interpretation.
Dryer Utilization FactorSpecify whether the dryer is timer-based or moisture-sensing. If the dryer has both capabilities, use moisture-sensing.
Washer Labeled Energy Rating [kWh]From the Energy Guide label that comes with the Clothes Washer.
Washer IMEFIntegrated Modified Energy Factor. This replaced Modified Energy Factor (MEF) in Ekotrope on May 8, 2017. Washers are now always rated with IMEF. Existing MEF values in Ekotrope were converted according to this RESNET interpretation. If you are rating a washer with a legacy MEF, please convert it using the Interpretation.
Natural Gas Operating CostEstimated yearly operating cost (when used with a natural gas water heater), from the Energy Guide label that comes with the clothes washer.
Washer CapacityFrom manufacturer’s data, California Energy Commission (CEC) database, or Energy Star website.
Gas Rate [$/therm]From the Energy Guide label that comes with the Clothes Washer.
Electric Rate [$/kWh]From the Energy Guide label that comes with the Clothes Washer.
Washer Labeled Loads Per Week
From the Energy Guide label that comes with the Clothes Washer. This field will only impact energy results and reports in Ekotrope Version 4.0.0 and beyond.
Washer Load Type Top-load washers have a door on the top of the washer for removing clothing or cleaning products, while Front-load washers have a door on the front that opens to the side. This field will only impact energy results and reports in Ekotrope Version 4.0.0 and beyond.
