Ekotrope can maintain and update a custom reference home configured to a utility program's specifications (e.g., the program baseline) to be used as a benchmark for calculating energy savings. Savings are calculated by Ekotrope's proprietary, hourly energy consumption algorithm relative to this reference home. Because the reference home is used to calculate savings, changes to the reference home could potentially impact all projects. For all reference home changes, Ekotrope needs to know how the change should be applied. The options include:
- Apply the change across the board to all existing and future projects.
- Apply the change to a new Ekotrope version so that the rater has to select the correct Ekotrope version with the updated reference home.
- Apply the change to a new reference home version. The old and new reference homes would be surfaced via API, and Ekotrope would also need to update the UI so the rater sees the correct information.
- For the UI, we could update it so that it uses the new reference home for all rebate calculations, OR
- We could update the UI based on an Ekotrope version, permit date, or another specified field.
