How to model an HVAC system that has multiple distribution systems?

Modified on Thu, 20 Mar at 6:45 AM

Multiple distribution systems cannot be modeled explicitly in Ekotrope. However, there is a way to represent them that will provide accurate results. To illustrate the workaround here is an example.

Let's say we have a boiler with four separate distribution systems. From the project page:

  • Click Edit on the house plan.
  • Click the Mechanical tab.
  • In the Mechanical Equipment section make four copies of the boiler component, number or letter them to track which is which.
  • In the Distribution Systems section model the four distribution system components as normal.
  • Assign a different boiler component copy to each of of the four distribution systems.
  • Based on the area served by the distribution system it is assigned to, scale the % load served by each boiler.
