Modeling Hollow-Core Concrete Block Walls

To model a hollow-core concrete block wall, please create 3 layers, 2 continuous layers of concrete to represent the inside and outside edge of the block wall and 1 stud-cavity layer with Concrete specified as the Stud Type.  The layers comprising the block should look like this:

Additional layers can be added on either side of the block to represent other components of the wall such as continuous insulation, gypsum, siding, etc.


If you would like to mimic REM/Rate's model of this wall, specify R-0.125 for each of the continuous concrete layers as shown in the first image below and override the Framing Fraction of the Stud/Cavity layer to specify a Framing Fraction of 0.192, as show in the second image below.
