Modeling Wall Orientation

Modified on Fri, 3 Oct at 2:52 PM

Ekotrope implemented and launched Wall Orientation as a feature, for above-grade walls and the above-grade portion of Foundation walls. A few items to note that might be useful for Raters are:

  • Wall orientation is mandatory minimum rated feature per ANSI 301-2022 Addendum C. Ekotrope implemented ANSI 301-2022 Addendum C as part of Version 5.1. Wall orientation field can leave be left as Unspecified for earlier versions. This information will show up in the corresponding Building Summary reports.
  • Calculations are not impacted by this change at this stage. Ekotrope will notify users if this changes in the future.
  • Window orientation is now inherited from wall orientation. If the orientation of a wall is changed and that wall has windows assigned, it will overwrite the previous window orientation. Window orientation is still needed (as before) if the wall orientation is unspecified.
  • ANSI 301-2022 Addendum C does not specify wall orientation in Reference Homes. This means walls in reference homes will utilize the same orientation as the proposed home.
